Raccoon Plays the Harp

Exactly what the title says.

Mia's Brilliant Stanley Steemer Variations

So, in case you didn't know (I certainly didn't before this), "Stanley Steemer" is a US carpet (and general home surface) cleaning company which uses a characteristic jingle in its advertisements (see below at 0:25).

In the following very cool and entertaining video, Youtube user Mia Gentile performs the Stanley Steemer jingle in a wide array of musical and dance variations. At 1:20-1:34 my personal favorite (with 1:08 to 1:19 a close second).

Token Halloween(ish) Post

Halloween? Meh... Not really a fan.

In any case, I don't know if this was shot on or near Halloween (about 20 years ago, judging from the footage quality and general surroundings), but this guy's costume is brilliant.

Don't Worry, It's Just a Cat...

It's a supercat supercut.

Logorama

I hope this isn't a repost.
Google assures me that the word "Logorama" has never been mentioned in this blog. Until now.
I first saw this in 2009, but I have no idea why I didn't post it back then.

From Wikipedia:

"Logorama is a 16-minute French animated film written and directed by H5/François Alaux, Hervé de Crécy and Ludovic Houplain, and produced by Autour de Minuit. The film depicts events in a stylized Los Angeles, and is told entirely through the use of more than 2,500 contemporary and historical logos and mascots. The film won the Prix Kodak at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival and the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 82nd Academy Awards."

Enjoy!

Caution! Some language and violence. This isn't your average kids cartoon.

Absolutely brilliant!
It deserves to get the HD treatment at some point.

European Monuments and Buildings by Night (time-lapse)

Luke Shepard, the creator of Nightvision describes it as:

"...a celebration of the brilliance and diversity of architecture found across Europe. Over the course of three months I journeyed with a friend through 36 cities in 21 countries with the ambition of capturing some of the greatest European structures in a new and unique way. Comprised of thousands of carefully taken photographs, strung together and stabilized in post-production, Nightvision aims to inspire appreciation for these man-made landmarks."

Watching in full screen and HD is strongly recommended.

Thanks to Lucas for this one.

World War II In Europe (Day By Day As It Happened)

Tomorrow, October 28th, is the 73rd anniversary from the onset of the Greco-Italian war (part of World War II), so I thought I'd post this lovely video showing the day by day territorial changes occurring throughout Europe (as well as parts of Africa and the Middle East) during World War II.

I can't be sure there are no mistakes in this, but I'm pretty certain if there are, they are minor.

It was created using MS Paint, so a lot of time and effort has gone into this.

Who Murdered Lord Smithe?

That's the question everyone who posts this video poses.

But, I won't lie to you. That question is not the real point of this video.
There's something a lot more disturbing going on.

Just watch.

P.S. I'm back from a forced hiatus. God allowing, it will not be needed again.

Everything Wrong With Pirates Of The Caribbean - The Curse Of The Black Pearl

Long post title, but it says it all really.

Cinema Sins counts the sins found in Pirates Of The Caribbean - The Curse Of The Black Pearl and, in the end, I think they're pretty lenient in their judgement.

OK, perhaps we have to cut the movie some slack, considering it is a comedy (that doesn't actually take itself too seriously) and is the most entertaining in the series. The other two are infested with sins.

Correction. There are actually three sequels! I lost faith in these movies after watching the imbecilic third one, that I didn't realize there was a fourth (why was there a fourth? and why was it a commercial success? why humanity? why do you give your hard-earned money to these lazy movie industry cretins? why?).

Animals. Talking.

Here's another one I can't believe I haven't posted before.

A hilarious clip from the BBC series "Walk on the Wild Side", where animals are voiced-over resulting in some truly funny sketches.

I can't believe they missed the opportunity to name it "Talk on the Wild Side".
