I usually avoid watching music, TV or film award ceremonies.
Too much unimaginative humour by the presenters, fake disbelief and awkwardness by the winners, jealousy or boredom by the audience.
And sometimes they just drag on and on and on... (because the TV channel needs to sell some ads too).
Academy Awards, the Emmy Awards, the Daytime Emmy Awards, the Golden
Globes, the Grammys, the Tonys, the Soul Train Music Awards, the
American Music Awards, the Country Music Awards, the SAG Awards...
artists what are you doing?!
the
People's Choice Awards, the American Film Institute Awards, the BET
Music Awards, the Kids Choice Awards, the Teen Choice Awards, the
Princess Grace Awards, the Kennedy Center Honors, MTV Video Music
Awards, the BAFTA Awards...
artists stahp!!!
Yesterday, I came across the following video of Tina Fey's and Amy Poehler's introductory monologue from the 2013 Golden Globe Awards and in a rare personal instance I actually found it rather enjoyable. These two know how it should be done.
In full disclosure, I am a fan of
30Rock, so I am conditioned to Tina Fey's style of humour.
Plus, she's (half) Greek, woohoo!!!
