Hey fellas! Wanna see some magic?

Back in 1997, David Blaine became famous through his Street Magic TV Specials.

Here's a taste:

You can very easily find many videos of his performances online and although they are undoubtedly very impressive, they are not the subject of this post.

Here, I bring to your attention this brilliant 4-part parody of David Blaine's Street Magic.

Enjoy!

(they're all great, but part 2 is my favorite)
(don't mind the picture quality in the first three, they are from 2006-2007)

Part 2

Everynone's Short Films

Everynone is a directing collective consisting of Dan Mercadante, Julius Metoyer III and Will Hoffman.

Below are three examples of their work.
I find the way they document life, weirdly intriguing and depressing at the same time.

As always, full screen, HD is recommended.

GTA V Is So Realistic...!

.. it's boring, according to this parody by CollegeHumor.

I hope you bring GTA V to PC, Rockstar.
You'd better bring this to PC, Rockstar.
Don't pull a Red Dead Redemption on us, Rockstar.

I believe I've made myself clear.

Pinky and the Brain Tongue Twister

I remember seeing this as a kid, when it first came out in the early 90s.

Brilliant.

[Transcript]

0:00-1:11

KS: I am honoured by your visit. Let me show you our assembly line.
First, sheets of sheer synthetic sheepskin are slit into several Kicky-Sack shoe shapes in
shapely shoe sizes by six sitting sheet slitters.

B: I only see five sitting sheet slitters.

KS: The sixth sitting sheet slitter's sick. His son Sammy's subbing 'til the sick sixth sitting
sheet slitter's back, sitting pretty.

P: You're not the sheet slitter?

S: No, I'm the sheet slitter's son.

P: Well.... You keep on slitting sheets until the sheet slitter comes. Haheheheh! Whooohaaah.

[View of a machine labelled "Sheet Slitter Shoe Shaper".]

KS: The Shoe Shaper then shapes the slit synthetic sheepskin sheets,
and shoots out shoes through the chute.

KS: Now, this is Mr. Plunkett, the new khaki sock plucker. (I had to fire our previous sock plucker.
He had a bit of an attitude.)

B: So, you sacked the cocky khaki Kicky-Sack sock plucker?

KS: The second cocky khaki Kicky-Sack sock plucker I sacked since the sixth sitting sheet
slitter got sick.

[Lights dim. Machine whirs and slows down.]

KS: Whoops! Don't worry; just an electrical problem. One of the Kicky-Sack sack pickers will have
to flick the plug.

P: Not the khaki sock plucker?

KS: Oh, my, no! The Kicky-Sack sack pickers flick the plug. The khaki sock plucker can't reach
the socket over the latex child perambulator fenders we use to line the treadmill.

B: It might make more sense to have the sixth sitting sheet slitter's son flick the plug, if the sack
pickers and the sock pluckers are behind the rubber baby buggy bumpers.

[Sammy flicks the plug. Everything whirs back up.]

KS: I never thought of that!

1:11-1:41

B: Now, Pinky, here is the plan. Remember, every step must be performed with precision!

You must slit the sixth sick sheet slitter's son's sheet, secure it next to the toy boat from
the Hackensack Socko Kicky-Sack Sack Kickers' picnic in Secaucus, stretch it past
the sack pickers' station and the sock plucker's chute, and pick a sack, pluck a sock,
and flick the plug,so I can put the pea in the plucked sock with the picked sack for ballast
and bounce it off the rubber baby buggy bumper, into the Parker Packard purple pewter pressure pump.

Is that understood?

Mia's Brilliant Stanley Steemer Variations

So, in case you didn't know (I certainly didn't before this), "Stanley Steemer" is a US carpet (and general home surface) cleaning company which uses a characteristic jingle in its advertisements (see below at 0:25).

In the following very cool and entertaining video, Youtube user Mia Gentile performs the Stanley Steemer jingle in a wide array of musical and dance variations. At 1:20-1:34 my personal favorite (with 1:08 to 1:19 a close second).

Token Halloween(ish) Post

Halloween? Meh... Not really a fan.

In any case, I don't know if this was shot on or near Halloween (about 20 years ago, judging from the footage quality and general surroundings), but this guy's costume is brilliant.

Logorama

I hope this isn't a repost.
Google assures me that the word "Logorama" has never been mentioned in this blog. Until now.
I first saw this in 2009, but I have no idea why I didn't post it back then.

From Wikipedia:

"Logorama is a 16-minute French animated film written and directed by H5/François Alaux, Hervé de Crécy and Ludovic Houplain, and produced by Autour de Minuit. The film depicts events in a stylized Los Angeles, and is told entirely through the use of more than 2,500 contemporary and historical logos and mascots. The film won the Prix Kodak at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival and the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 82nd Academy Awards."

Enjoy!

Caution! Some language and violence. This isn't your average kids cartoon.

Absolutely brilliant!
It deserves to get the HD treatment at some point.

European Monuments and Buildings by Night (time-lapse)

Luke Shepard, the creator of Nightvision describes it as:

"...a celebration of the brilliance and diversity of architecture found across Europe. Over the course of three months I journeyed with a friend through 36 cities in 21 countries with the ambition of capturing some of the greatest European structures in a new and unique way. Comprised of thousands of carefully taken photographs, strung together and stabilized in post-production, Nightvision aims to inspire appreciation for these man-made landmarks."

Watching in full screen and HD is strongly recommended.

World War II In Europe (Day By Day As It Happened)

Tomorrow, October 28th, is the 73rd anniversary from the onset of the Greco-Italian war (part of World War II), so I thought I'd post this lovely video showing the day by day territorial changes occurring throughout Europe (as well as parts of Africa and the Middle East) during World War II.

I can't be sure there are no mistakes in this, but I'm pretty certain if there are, they are minor.
It was created using MS Paint, so a lot of time and effort has gone into this.

Who Murdered Lord Smithe?

That's the question everyone who posts this video poses.

But, I won't lie to you. That question is not the real point of this video.
There's something a lot more disturbing going on.

Just watch.

P.S. I'm back from a forced hiatus. God allowing, it will not be needed again.
