Tina Fey & Amy Poehler Introductory Monologue at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards

I usually avoid watching music, TV or film award ceremonies.

Too much unimaginative humour by the presenters, fake disbelief and awkwardness by the winners, jealousy or boredom by the audience.

And sometimes they just drag on and on and on... (because the TV channel needs to sell some ads too).

Academy Awards, the Emmy Awards, the Daytime Emmy Awards, the Golden Globes, the Grammys, the Tonys, the Soul Train Music Awards, the American Music Awards, the Country Music Awards, the SAG Awards... artists what are you doing?!

the People's Choice Awards, the American Film Institute Awards, the BET Music Awards, the Kids Choice Awards, the Teen Choice Awards, the Princess Grace Awards, the Kennedy Center Honors, MTV Video Music Awards, the BAFTA Awards... artists stahp!!!

Yesterday, I came across the following video of Tina Fey's and Amy Poehler's introductory monologue from the 2013 Golden Globe Awards and in a rare personal instance I actually found it rather enjoyable. These two know how it should be done.

In full disclosure, I am a fan of 30Rock, so I am conditioned to Tina Fey's style of humour.

Plus, she's (half) Greek, woohoo!!!

One Bowl & Two Cats

I'm sure I've seen this as a cartoon somewhere.

I originally named this post "Two Cats, One Bowl" thinking it was really smart and funny.

Then I googled it and found that about a gazillion other people had thought of it before me (and for the same video!).

Arrrgh!

A Slippery Situation

This is recent footage from Duke Street in Norwich, UK, showing a particularly icy patch of pavement causing trouble to many an unsuspecting pedestrian.

The playful music fits the video well and also props to the girl at 04:27 for trying to warn the passersby (many of whom appeared to ignore her).

Trust Fall Fails

From trusted Wikipedia:

"A trust fall is a purported trust-building game often conducted as a group exercise in which a person deliberately allows themselves to fall, relying on the other members of the group to catch the person".

Things don't always go down that way though...

1. Hmmm... it seems they didn't think this through...

2. Miscommunication

3. Fake, but still...

You can hear her falling on a mat in the third one, plus the acting isn't exactly top notch.
I didn't notice it at first viewing though. Only after reading some of the Youtube comments.

Neeeeext!

Trucks in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, form a long line as they wait to be loaded with snow.

Perhaps a familiar sight to Canadians, nonetheless a very peculiar sight for those of us of a hotter climate.

Sh*t Just Got Real

Wait for it...

(caution: some minor language in the video)

Update:
There had been some suspicion that it might be fake.
However, when the guy's video and the original TV footage are synchronized, it all appears to add up.

Live Action Toy Story

From Entertainment Weekly:

"It took Jonason Pauley and Jessie Perrotta two years of filming and about three months of prep to create a live-action version of the beloved Pixar film Toy Story, and it only took two days for the YouTube video to get more than 1.7 million views."

And now after three days it has reached 3.6 million views, I may add.

Yes, you can see some strings. Some of the visual effects are not phenomenal. But who cares?
The effort and love that went into this is absolutely amazing.
Hopefully, Pixar won't go ahead with any copyright violation mumbo jumbo.

Enjoy!

Kudos to Andy for finding this one.

Stuff of Nightmares

The Screaming Sheep Trilogy

Seems legit.

No, seriously, I truly reckon it seems legit.
It could be some sort of mutation.
Or yes, it could be dubbed over.

I don't know.

The 100 Most Viewed Youtube Videos of 2012

At least according to the guy who made this compilation.
A note of caution. These are not the funniest or most liked videos.
They are just the most viewed videos that were posted on Youtube in 2012.
Many videos that you might think are missing appear as "related" thumbnails for you to click on in videos of a similar type.

You will need to spare 20 minutes to watch this (probably more if you rewind particular videos or if you click on the links to watch the original full clips).

So just relax and enjoy.

"The Dark Knight Rises" Destroyed

I watched this movie recently during a long hour flight. I had seen "Batman Begins" (mediocre) and "The Dark Knight" (very good) in the past, so I was just hoping for some light entertainment, but this movie was an insult to my intelligence. As was "Inception", the most overrated movie in the history of time, which was also directed by Christopher Nolan. Coincidence? To be fair though, "Memento" was exceptional.

On IMDB, "The Dark Knight Rises" has a grade of 8.7/10 with 45.6% of voters giving it 10/10.
This means that roughly one in two people who watch this movie think it's sheer perfection.
Oh. The humanity.

Getting back to our subject, watch below as ScreenJunkies and CinemaSins trash this botched ending to the trilogy.

The Most Useless Machine Ever

Still, more useful than most Apple products.

Booyah!

"Can it get more useless?", I hear you ask.
Yes, it can.

Update June 2013

And it continues...
